Pope Wars
The Story
It is the year 2030, and you have been given the task of raising as much money as possible to support an apologetics mission to convert people to Catholicism. The method in which you will do this is through the buying and selling of Catholic items, or Holy stuff. You begin your mission in Boston with $2000, free flight passes from Vatican Air Lines, and a backpack.. (Note: Inflation has really caused the prices of everything to be really high)
Overview
Your job is to buy Holy stuff from various cities and sell them elsewhere for profit. Remember the general rule, buy low and sell high. You start off with money borrowed from your parish donations. Unfortunately, for every day you have money borrowed, the payback amount increases by 20%. You must pay the money back quickly or be in danger of losing the support from your parish.
Traveling
Your mission will take you to various cities. The price of Holy stuff varies from city to city. Remember, you are trying to raise as much money for your apologetics mission as you can. You should always sell your Holy stuff at a price higher that your buying price. You do this by traveling to different cities by clicking on the name: Boston, Seattle, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, and Denver. The picture shows you the current city you are in. If the price of Holy stuff is low, don't sell it at that city. Travel somewhere else and sell it at a higher price.
Buy/Sell Holy Stuff
This part of the screen lets you buy and sell Holy stuff. The table shows the type of Holy stuff available, the market price of the Holy stuff in the city, how many you can afford, and how many you own. To buy Holy stuff, select the item you want to buy. Then, type in the amount you want to buy. Last, press the buy button. Remember, there is a limit of how much Holy stuff you can carry.
Stats
This section displays your stats in the game. This is also where to game messages are displayed. Here is an explanation of the stats:
- Money: How much cash you have. You need money to buy Holy stuff.
- Debt: How much you are in debt to the contributions. You can borrow money and repay your debt with the borrow and repay button. Enter the amount you want to borrow or repay and click on the corresponding button.
- Carry: How much Holy stuff you can carry. The first number is the amount you are carrying and the second number is the amount you can carry.
- Day: How many days you have been in business.
- Catechism: If you have a catechism, you can try to convert a Protestant. It's risky, but if you succeed, they'll buy you a bunch of Holy stuff.
Newspaper
Remember to read the newspaper. The newspaper tells you what is going on in the current city.
Special Events
When you arrive at a city, you might encounter some people that are helpful and some that are not. Look out for these people.
